Virginia Lawyer Tapped for Leadership Role in Association of Trial Lawyers of America

HAMPTON, Va., Aug. 4, 2003 - Stephen M. Smith, a nationally recognized expert in traumatic brain injury litigation, has been elected to a leadership position within the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the largest trial bar in the United States.

ATLA's annual meeting in San Francisco to serve as parliamentarian for the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group, the governing body for brain injury litigation for the 56,000-plus membership organization.

ATLA, the world's largest trial bar, is a broad-based, international coalition of attorneys, law professors, paralegals and law students that is dedicated to promoting and protecting consumer safety, the right to trial by jury, and America's civil justice system.

With over 29 years' experience in injury litigation, Stephen M. Smith is widely recognized as a national expert in traumatic brain injury litigation. He has been litigating traumatic brain injury cases for more than 20 years, specializing primarily in the "mild" brain injury, while also handling moderate to severe cases and other serious and catastrophic injuries.
