The American Board of Trial Advocates has elevated attorney Stephen M. Smith, a nationally recognized specialist in traumatic brain injury and complex medical litigation, to diplomate status, a first for a Virginia lawyer.
Smith, founder of The Brain Injury Law Center, has been a member since 2000 of the elite organization, which is dedicated to the preservation of civil jury trials and to helping younger attorneys achieve a higher level of trial advocacy. Smith is the first Virginia lawyer to be tapped for such an honor.
Smith is included in the 2003-2004 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and has consistently been in previous editions. Smith is licensed to practice in Virginia, New York and the District of Columbia. He also is parliamentarian of the American Trial Lawyers Association Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group Executive Board and holds board positions on the Brain Injury Association of Virginia and the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice. Smith is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and is listed in Who’s Who in American Law.
